For most collectors, this timepiece requires little introduction as it is considered the ultimate gem among the 6139 lineup.
Produced exclusively for the Japanese market for a limited period of approximately two years, this model never had an international counterpart. The example from April 1970 that we have is truly astonishing. The matte black dial is in impeccable condition, showing no signs of fading. The printed markers are sharp, and the original luminous plots exhibit an even and warm patina. The hour and minute hands, in black and white, are pristine without any paint loss or chips.
The chronograph hands retain their vibrant orange hue, including the correct "two-piece" sweep at the center. The day display can be switched between English and Kanji (Japanese) by pressing inward on the recessed dimpled crown.
The case remains unpolished, preserving the original factory edges and finishes. It is entirely authentic, and following a service, the 21-jewel 6139A movement is keeping time near perfection.
Opportunities to acquire this particular reference in such remarkable condition are as scarce as the watch itself.
Ships from Tokyo, Japan.
