Although our focus has primarily been on offering vintage mechanical watches, it is difficult to ignore the charm of a quartz watch that sparked a revolution. During a period when quartz watches were associated with LCD displays and designs that deviated so far from tradition that they hardly resembled wristwatches, Seiko took a step backward to propel watch design forward.
The 7A28 emerged as the world's first analog quartz chronograph, and it would be an understatement to say that they succeeded. With its 15 jewel movement completely devoid of any plastic components, the 7A28 could be finely tuned for optimal performance and constructed in a manner that facilitated the replacement of worn parts.
This level of craftsmanship cannot be said for the majority of quartz movements seen even in today's market. The design of the 7A28 allows for the inclusion of three sub-registers: one to measure minutes, another dedicated to seconds, and a third to tally tenths of a second.
