Seiko's second GMT watch, known as the 6117-8000 Navigator Timer, followed the release of their World Timer during the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. In comparison to the standard GMT design, the 6117-8000 model showcases a more streamlined layout and is powered by the 6117 movement.
The dial of this watch has an eye-catching charcoal sunburst appearance, featuring a glossy lacquer finish and encircled by a raised black chapter. It is adorned with silver hash marks and large square luminous markers at each hour. The only burst of color comes from the vibrant red 24-hour hand, which, along with the bezel, enables tracking time in a second time zone. The bezel itself is designed with a smooth rotating coin-edge style, allowing for effortless adjustments in both directions and maintaining secure positioning once set.
The silver and black 24-hour insert on the dial provides a pleasing contrast and shows minimal signs of wear. The case of the watch remains pristine and unaltered, preserving its original factory finishes, while its barrel shape is ergonomically contoured to offer a perfect fit on the wrist.
For devoted vintage Seiko enthusiasts, this timepiece is a must-have item, and the chance to own one in such excellent condition is rare and valuable.
