Seiko Monaco Chronograph 7018-5000

There is something about a square case that divides a room. Half the collectors you know will tell you it's wrong, that a watch should be round, that anything else is an affectation. The other half have been quietly hunting a clean Monaco Ref. 7018-5000 for the better part of a decade and know exactly what this is. We are firmly in the second camp.

And what's fun about this gig is that every so often, something surfaces from a private collection that stops you mid-scroll. Decades untouched by someone who clearly understood exactly what they had. This is one of those.

The blue dial shifts depending on where the light catches it: Deep and almost grey in the shade, opening up to purple or cobalt when it moves. The white subdial at 6 o'clock pops cleanly against it.  This is the JDM 7018, not the 7016. Cleaner layout, rarer reference, considerably harder to find.

The case is cushion-square: Rounded at the corners but unmistakably angular in its proportions. Brushed and polished surfaces throughout, the flat top facets of the lugs catching the light against the more satin-finished flanks. The bracelet is the original integrated steel unit, links tapering naturally from the case exactly as they should.

Everything about it reads exactly as it should after decades in a private collection, untouched and unimproved. These don't come around often, an unworn example even less so. This is one of those finds we genuinely debated keeping.

The watch will be serviced upon purchase. Please expect 1-2 months to complete before shipping.
