In 1960, Seiko’s Suwa factory introduced the Liner, a refined line of luxury dress watches positioned just below the newly launched Grand Seiko. The concept was to deliver much of the elegance and sophistication of Grand Seiko, but without the high-precision chronometer certification that defined Seiko’s flagship. Despite its promise, the Liner line was short-lived, by 1964 it was discontinued, making it one of Seiko’s rarest and briefest ventures into branded collections.

Although the Liner encompassed multiple reference numbers, it was built around just three core designs: A classic dress watch, a waterproof model, and a chronometer. The first release, the dress watch, reflected the early 1960s trend toward larger yet thinner timepieces. Its styling was understated but refined, with slim bezels that emphasized its proportions and delicate lugs that harmonized with its sleek profile.

Today’s offering is a remarkable new old stock Ref. 15010, housed in a full gold-filled case. Its silver-gray SD dial with refined applied indexes perfectly complements the warm tone of the case. Gold-filled Liners are notoriously difficult to source in excellent condition, and examples preserved in an unworn state are exceedingly rare.

Whether you choose to let it finally grace the wrist or keep it as a pristine addition to your collection, this example represents a rare opportunity to own the Liner exactly as it was originally intended: Minimalistic and untouched by time.

The watch currently works flawlessly and will be serviced before delivery. Please expect 1-2 months for servicing before shipping.
