In the Japanese language, "Kakume" translates to "square eyes." Just like a pair of square, satin silver eyes, the sub-registers of this impressive chronograph gaze back at you from their recessed position beneath the deep metallic blue dial.

This particular piece from October 1974 is exceptional in every way. The dial is flawless and mesmerizing from any perspective. It features a rich cobalt blue color, framed in black, and adorned with polished applied markers highlighted with white stripes. The square-shaped sub-registers have a smooth silver finish with a satin texture running vertically.

The hour and minute hands, designed in a slender baton style, are black with white tips, and their original luminous plots exhibit only a slight patina. The chronograph hands maintain their vibrant orange color, creating a striking contrast against the surrounding blue and silver tones.

The matching bezel insert is remarkably well-preserved, showing minimal signs of wear. It is accompanied by the original Seiko 5 Sports XGA261 bracelet.

This timepiece is completely original and, after a recent service, keeps time nearly flawlessly. The chronograph pushers are precise and responsive, providing a snappy reset. As the demand for vintage Seiko chronographs continues to rise, the opportunities to acquire pieces in this remarkable condition have significantly diminished. Don't let this one slip away.

  • The chronograph is in near-mint condition: The case is strong with just some light scratches. The dial is the main attraction here as it is very clean and the hands are still intact including the red tip.

The bracelet is in very good condition and has few scratches and still retains its sharp edges.
