The nickname of the 6138-3000, the "Jumbo," is well-deserved, thanks to its unmistakable 42mm size. However, its substantial dimensions perfectly complement its refined design. The matte black multilevel dial is accentuated by sleek contrasting markers and impeccably framed by the subtly angled chapter. The white baton-style hands for hours and minutes seamlessly blend into the overall aesthetic, while the vibrant yellow chronograph hands provide a balanced burst of color.
The meticulously detailed case of the watch ensures that it commands attention on the wrist. The bracelet, which is also used by the 6138-800X Baby Panda models, not only enhances comfort but also contributes to a polished appearance. The 6138 offers clear advantages over its predecessor, including independent day and date quickset functions in rare black and white colors, as well as the option to manually wind the mainspring.
The chronograph functions are precise and responsive, and following a service, the timekeeping is nearly flawless. This particular watch, manufactured in March 1972, is completely original, maintaining its crisp and unpolished condition. With its timeless design, it undoubtedly serves as a standout piece in any vintage collection.
