Seiko Champion Alpinist J13033

The original Laurel Alpinist 14041 featured the same Seikosha 17 jewel movement as the original Marvel. However, in 1963, the second-generation Alpinists, which were branded under the Champion sub-brand, underwent a significant change. They were initially equipped with a 17-jewel variation of the Cronos movement.

This shift in the model lineup also brought alterations in the appearance of the watch. The original circular dress case of the Laurel Alpinist was replaced with a more stylish, confident, and angular design. Additionally, the J13033 model saw a transformation in its dial, moving away from the previous four compass point inverted triangle style to a Polerouter-inspired design. This new design featured a black ring encircling the outer edge of the dial, with a '4' marking at the 12 o'clock position to align with magnetic north.

But what makes this particular reference more unique is that the dial is surrounded by a fixed bezel with lume plots as hours markers making it mesmerizing in the metal.

This J13033 is also known as the Type 3 early "Diashock" dial and was designed by Daini Seikosha under Taro Tanaka's supervision and it is most certainly one of, if not the hardest Champion Alpinist reference to hunt for.

Paired with vintage Sky blue Seiko straps which make it perfect for the fall season, this J13033 from its peers with its remarkable blend of elegance and versatility. What truly sets this reference apart, is its subtle Grammar of Design touch was later shaped in Grand Seiko and King Seiko models.

The watch will be serviced upon purchase and will take 1-2 months to complete.
