Presently, we are presenting another exceedingly rare Seiko chronograph, known as the 6138-8000 or "Baby Panda." This timepiece, introduced in 1971, features the 23-jewel version of the Caliber 6138B movement, which was only produced for a single year and exclusively housed within the 6138-800x series, a model intended for the Japanese market.
 
Similar to the 8001 variant, the 8000 is available with two dial options: a black iridescent charcoal and a pearl white dial. The chronograph we are offering boasts the creamy dial variation.
This particular model is slightly narrower and lighter compared to its counterpart, the jumbo-sized 6138-8001, making it particularly suitable for individuals with slimmer wrists. Furthermore, this reference possesses a notable advantage: both the dial and hour/minute hands are luminous, ensuring excellent legibility at night. The Tachymeter ring on this model is thinner, resulting in a subtle and cleaner dial aesthetic.
 
It is worth noting that this model features the rare transitional dial with the large font Tachymeter ring, which was subsequently used in the updated 6138-8001 reference.
