SOLD - Seiko SpeedTimer 7017-6050

Introducing this gorgeous Seiko Speedtimer Chronograph Ref. 7017-6050 from the 70s. This chronograph is actually the first, purpose-built rally meter for the rally navigators to maintain the driver’s speed and rhythm within the special speed regulated zones.

Not only that but during those years there was a rivalry between two Seiko divisions – Daini-Seikosha and Suwa-Seikosha and since Suwa produced the cal. 6139 as the world's first automatic chronograph, Daini came up with the thinnest automatic chronograph movement ever made. With a thickness of just 5.9 mm, the 7017 set a record for the world’s thinnest chronograph movement.

The 7017-6050 Rally Meter has a very unusual design for a chronograph from those years. It only has one logarithmic scale that rotates around the fixed scale on the dial. Its only function is to calculate the speed and distance traveled during a regularity rally. This is how it’s got its nickname “The Eyeless Rally” (「目なしラリー」) – for its lack of sub-dials.

Once purchased, the chronograph will be inspected by our watchmaker then shipped.
