Seiko's collection of Speed Timer chronographs epitomizes exceptional vintage racing timepieces, yet acquiring one can prove challenging since they were exclusively produced for the Japanese market.
Featuring a 21-jewel version of the esteemed 6139 movement, these models represented a significant upgrade compared to their counterparts intended for export. They also boasted several distinct features. This particular 7020 model from April '71 is truly remarkable. It showcases a deeply recessed matte black dial with a split, matte beige sub-register adorned with vibrant orange markers. The prominent "Speed Timer" logo graces the center of the dial, opposite the blacked-out day/date display (available in English and Kanji).
A striking orange trim adorns the minute track, serving as a perfect delineation between the dial and the glossy black countdown bezel, which can be adjusted using the crown. The outer bezel incorporates a black inlay, while the tonneau-shaped case is ergonomically designed for comfortable wear on the wrist.
The example we have available is in pristine, unworn condition. Don't miss the opportunity to own this remarkable timepiece, as it is unlikely to remain available for long.
