The 11A Indicator marks a significant milestone in Seiko's history as it stands as their inaugural wristwatch housing an automatic movement—an emblem of great historical value. This timepiece, released by Seiko's Kameido factory in late 1955, marked a pivotal moment as the first Japanese wristwatch to adopt such innovative technology, rooted in the A. Schild caliber 1382, a Swiss movement.
During an era where automatic watches were groundbreaking, the inclusion of a power reserve indicator at the 12 o'clock position served as a sophisticated addition, showcasing the stored power within the mainspring. The piece we offer holds a distinctive charm—an exceedingly rare early Ref.14026 from 1956. This variant boasts a striking two-tone configuration with a resplendent golden dial and an embossed S logo, encased in an SKS-style case that encapsulates the essence of the Showa period.
Driven by a 17-jewel 11A movement, this Ref.14026 features a characteristic flat crown, reminiscent of early SKS Seiko cases, contributing to its compact and sleek aesthetic. With an 18mm lug width, this seemingly petite Seiko Indicator paradoxically exudes a remarkably contemporary appeal when worn.
Our offering represents a pinnacle example: Likely untouched, the indicator remains in impeccable condition and is accompanied by its original SKS-signed Seiko straps, alongside its original tag and an exceedingly rare box — an exemplary showcase of a historical watch in pristine form.
The watch currently works flawlessly and it will be sold as is. Please let us know if you wish to service it.
