The Orient Grand Prix Swimmer 100, in our opinion, is where over-the-top meets overachiever, in the best possible way. Born in an era when watchmakers chased jewel counts like badges of honor (because hey, more jewels = more prestige, right?), Orient threw its hat in the ring with a jaw-dropping 100-jewel masterpiece.

Sure, many of those jewels are more sparkle than function, but that’s part of the charm: Introduced under the “Swimmer” moniker, this watch wasn’t just about show. It proudly touted the “strongest waterproof case” of its time, rated to 10 ATM and ready for everything from poolside lounging to spirited adventures.

Now, here’s where it gets interesting: The Swimmer came in two flavors: The rugged, diver-leaning T19420, and this sleeker, more refined T19416. Think of it as the tuxedo-wearing cousin who can still swim laps before dinner. With its clean lines and versatile styling, the T19416 nails that rare balance between sporty and dressy.

What really sets this piece apart, though, is its blend of extravagant detail and functional durability. The case is built like a tank—solid, weighty, with beautifully polished surfaces and a thick, tough crystal. A screw-down crown with sturdy crown guards seals the deal. The dial is a silvery radial stunner that plays with light in all the right ways, with a very rare "T" printed indexes that appears to be tied to one limited production run.

Flip it over and you’re greeted by a golden medallion featuring a Pegasus mid-gallop, because why not add a mythical beast to an already legendary watch? And the beautifully made Jubilee/BOR mixed style bracelet elevates the whole package with a touch of vintage luxury.

This particular example feels new and looks sensational, a true flagship of its time and a shining example of Orient’s flair for bold, boundary-pushing design.

The watch currently works flawlessly, and it will be serviced before shipping. It will take approximatively 1-2 months to be completed.
