Seiko's collection of Speed Timer watches represents exceptional vintage racing chronographs, and acquiring one can be quite challenging since they were exclusively manufactured for the Japanese market.
 
These models, equipped with a 21-jewel version of the renowned 6139 movement, offered a notable improvement compared to their counterparts intended for export. They also boasted several distinctive features. This particular 7020 model, produced in May of '71, is truly remarkable. It showcases a deep-set matte black dial complemented by a split, bi-color sub-register in black and vibrant blue.
 
The prominent "Speed Timer" logo is positioned in the middle of the dial, contrasting with the blacked-out day/date frame, which displays both English and Kanji characters.
The minute track is accented with a trim in striking "Speed Timer" orange, serving as a perfect demarcation between the dial and the glossy black count-down bezel, which can be rotated using the crown. The outer bezel features a black inlay, and the tonneau-shaped case is ergonomically contoured for comfortable wear on the wrist.

The watch was originally found in this condition but it wasn't working. We've decided to carefully service the movement while keeping its original condition.
