Also nicknamed as King Seiko First 「キングセイコーファースト」, the first model of the King Seiko line was introduced in 1961. Back then, there were two different factories producing wrist watches for the Hattori watch company: The Suwa factory based in Nagano, Japan, and the Kameido (Daini) factory based in Tokyo, Japan. As the Suwa factory introduced the First Grand Seiko as the top-of-the-line luxury model for Seiko in 1960, the Kameido factory responded back to with their own luxury wristwatch in 1961, the King Seiko.
The King Seiko was designed and manufactured in-house by the Kameido factory and their mission was simple: Offering high-quality luxury watches to consumers at a more affordable price point than the Grand Seiko.
The King Seiko First was available in Gold and Stainless Steel models. Stainless steel models were introduced with two case variations: The 14 ligne J14102E and the 15 ligne 15034. The one we offer is the J14120 with the "Applied Dial" logo which means that the markers are rhodium plated.
This is truly a rare opportunity to own an historic King Seiko timepiece!
Ships from Tokyo, Japan.
SOLD - King Seiko First J14102E AD
Overall this King Seiko First in stainless steel AD logo is in great condition. The case retains its thick lugs and although there are some scratches, one can clearly appreciate the original bevelling.
The original silver dial is very clean for its age. The dial is the stunning AD (Applique dial) dial variant as can be seen by the triangle superimposed with three lines logo above the six o’clock index. The handset and crown are all original and are both in great condition.
The shield medallion on the caseback is original and is in crisp shape with the engraving still clearly visible.
The watch also comes with its correct Seiko buckle.
