The 5626-8000 is a late King Seiko, made in 1974 as the line was quietly being phased out in favor of Grand Seiko's expanding range. By this point King Seiko had come back to itself.
The experimental detour through the Vanac and the more adventurous tonneau and cushion-case references of the early 70s had run its course, and the final iterations returned to something cleaner: The Grammar of Design case, with sharp beveled lugs and alternating surface finishes that felt like a restatement of what the line had always done best. The caseback is plain, the engraved KS medallion of earlier references already removed. Small detail, but it marks where in the timeline this sits.
New old stock, with the original hang tag, straps, and buckle all present and unissued. White dial, unpolished case, manually wound. The late King Seiko in complete, unworn condition is genuinely hard to find. This one is exactly that.
