The 5626-711X series set the blueprint for King Seiko 562x models up until 1975, with only incremental refinements marked by new case numbers. The most notable shift came in late 1972, when the 5626-7110 gave way to the 5626-7111. This update replaced the earlier one-piece monobloc case with a more practical screw-back design. While the silhouette remained familiar, the lugs became slightly less sloped, the case sides broader, and the case back engraving swapped its roundel for a bold “Seiko KS.” Inside, the movement evolved as well, moving from the externally regulated 5626A to the 5626B with its more conventional regulator.

By 1973, the line progressed again with the 5626-7113, a reference that distilled Taro Tanaka’s celebrated “Grammar of Design” into a pure King Seiko form. Its sharply pointed lugs, crisp facets, and flat reflective planes embodied restrained elegance. The lugs terminate in fine, flat surfaces beside the bracelet, a subtle but unmistakable King Seiko signature.

Compared to some of its bolder Grand Seiko contemporaries, the 7113 stood out for its refined minimalism, flat polished surfaces, angular geometry, and a discreet countersunk bezel. Perfectly proportioned at 36mm in diameter, 42mm lug-to-lug, and just 10mm thick including the raised crystal, it captures the essence of 1970s King Seiko design: Balanced, minimalistic, and timelessly wearable.

The example offered here is a relic from the past: Originally purchased at Wako as a 25-year service award for an employee of Kyowa Bank (known today as Asahi Shinkin Bank), it has remained unworn for decades. The complete presentation set survives intact, and the untouched condition of the watch highlights just how striking this reference is when preserved as Seiko intended.

For those seeking one of the final evolutions of King Seiko’s distinguished 5626 line, and/or simply looking to give a pristine vintage gem its first true life on the wrist, you won't find better than this.

The watch works flawlessly and will be serviced before shipping.
