Grand Seiko VFA 6185-8010 Palladium Alloy

Within the realm of horology, the ascent of Grand Seiko's VFA watches to a coveted status in modern times comes as no surprise. The VFA series stands as the embodiment of Japanese watchmaking prowess, seamlessly blending precision, craftsmanship, and enduring aesthetics. Bearing the prestigious Very Fine Adjusted (VFA) designation, these vintage Grand Seiko series symbolize the zenith of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail. Enthusiasts and collectors are captivated by the discerning design features, including Zaratsu-polished cases and exquisitely intricate dials, serving as a testament to the brand's unwavering commitment to excellence.

If we have to pick a grail, the 61GS Ref.6185-8010 VFA rightfully claims its place as the coveted centerpiece in virtually any vintage Grand Seiko collection. First unveiled in the 1969 Special Luxury JDM Seiko Catalog, this VFA boasts a distinguished case with a captivating blend of palladium and silver alloy, featuring an intricate part-hammered finish. Produced in a limited run, this unique early variant is powered by the 6185a caliber, adding an extra layer of rarity that makes it a challenging find for enthusiasts and collectors alike.

Initially released in two variations, including a bracelet version devoid of the hammered case, this variant commanded a premium price of 170,000 Japanese Yen. While this may appear steep, the true appreciation for its craftsmanship unfolds when one experiences its meticulous details in person: It showcases a sleek, dark navy blue dial adorned with slender pencil-thin indexes encircling it. Notably, the third-hour index has been ingeniously replaced by a discreet date window, adding both functionality and a touch of refinement to the design but the true focal point lies in the intricately hammered case, captivating attention with its distinctive aesthetic reminiscent of an alien spaceship.

Within the 61GS VFA series, the Kin-Para 「銀パラ」 -8010 certainly stands out as the epitome of rarity, particularly in its early variant. Even when these watches occasionally surface for sale, the assurance of obtaining one in such pristine condition remains uncertain.

The watch currently works flawlessly and it will be sold as-is. Please let us know if you wish to service it before delivery.
