The 56GS line-up was the last mechanical series from Grand Seiko, mass-produced from 1970 to 1974 in a wide variety of models. The production process of the 56GS series was partially automated and used the 5646 28,800bph movement, which provided the right balance of accuracy and reliability. Grand Seiko had previously introduced higher precision models, with a movement speed of 36,000bph, but such high frequency can come at the expense of reliability.
Today we have to offer one of the rarest models from the 56GS series, the 5646-7040. Most likely made for only one month in June 1973, it is the only 56GS model that features Arabic numerals on the dial. Featuring unique textured finishes on both the dial and bezel, finding an example in good condition is challenging. This model is unique since it doesn't follow the Grammar of Design philosophy, and that’s exactly what makes it so special.
This timepiece presents a very rare opportunity for collectors to acquire an extremely rare and unique example of this particular reference.
The watch has been recently serviced by our watchmaker.
