Grand Seiko 56GS 5646-7010 Navy Dial

When dipping your toes into the world of vintage Grand Seiko, it’s easy to get lost in the ocean of references. The 56GS series is a perfect starting point: Diverse, fun, and distinctly Grand Seiko. But if you want something that’s both timeless and a little bit mysterious, look no further than the 564X-701X models.

These pieces carry the DNA of Taro Tanaka’s legendary “Grammar of Design,” the same philosophy behind icons like the 45GS and 44GS. Think sharp lines, mirror polishing, and proportions that just feel right. Add in a precise Hi-Beat Cal. 5646A with a bilingual English/Japanese day wheel, and you’ve got a watch that’s elegant yet practical. The white dial is undeniably elegant, but the navy blue dial takes things to another dimension.

You don’t need much convincing to see why it’s instantly captivating: Slim silver hands, white-accented markers, and sharp silver indexes dance against an inky dial that shifts with the light, making it both endlessly versatile and quietly dramatic.

But here’s the real twist: This one doesn’t just impress because of its near-immaculate, unworn condition. No, the intrigue lies in its bracelet. To date, there’s no solid evidence that the blue dial variant was ever sold with a bracelet from the factory. So what’s the story here? Was it a rare factory pairing that slipped under the radar? Was the bracelet an optional extra Grand Seiko offered separately? Or did some meticulous owner piece it together themselves, only to tuck it away, forgotten, for decades?

We’ll likely never know. What we do know is this: The bracelet + navy dial combo feels so right, it almost seems criminal to think Grand Seiko didn’t officially consider it.

Once purchased, the watch will undergo servicing before shipment. Please allow 1–2 months for the servicing to be completed.
