During the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Seiko introduced the World Time watch to the public. This watch was a great way to commemorate the games, as it featured the Olympic torch embossed on the case back, along with the model and serial number.

This beautiful World Time we have to offer is an unused/deadstock example and was made in November of 1964 and it is simply breathtaking.

The Ref.6217-7000 was Seiko's -and Japan's- first iteration of a World Timer and was designed for international travelers who needed a reliable timepiece that could keep track of multiple time zones. The watch with a silvery white linen dial bordered by a split bi-color 24-hour track and a matte silver rotating "cities of the world" bezel with red trim allowing the wearer to easily track the time in different parts of the world.

The hands are polished and in excellent condition, without any signs of oxidation or corrosion. The GMT cursor hand is solid black and undamaged. The case is classically designed with well-proportioned lugs and serves as a frame for the dial. The large, knurled crown at 4 o'clock allows for a comfortable fit and can be rotated in either direction to adjust the inner bezel.

Not only in fantastic condition and retains the original blue film on the case back, but it is also a historical piece and helped the brand establish a worldwide presence as the Tokyo Olympics games were the catalyst of the Japanese economic miracle of the late 70s. Its unique design, functionality, and provenance make it a must-have for any serious collector or enthusiast.

If you are looking for a watch that tells a story and has a rich history, and more importantly untouched, then this Seiko World Time Ref. 6217-7000 is the perfect choice.

The watch is a deadstock and will be sold as is.

Serving is possible for an extra, please let us know if you wish to service it.
