The Junior series was Japan’s first hand-wound watch line created specifically for young people. But what makes it truly fascinating is how Citizen, much like with the Homer series, went beyond the ordinary by introducing a range of quirky, eye-catching models designed to appeal to a broader audience. From the colorful Pansy dials to other unusually creative designs, the Junior lineup became a playground of Citizen’s experimental spirit during the era.
 
This World Timer is a particularly intriguing example. At first glance, you’ll notice the charming globe motif printed on the dial, complemented by raised gold indexes with a bold Art-Deco “12” at the top, and matching gold hands which works perfectly all-together. But the real surprise lies on the reverse side: Flip the watch over, and you’ll find a beautifully detailed caseback engraved with 24 world cities and hour markings. Even more impressive, the caseback actually rotates, functioning like a traditional GMT bezel, something remarkably uncommon, especially for its time.
 
A daring and imaginative design from Citizen, this model may well represent the brand’s first foray into the GMT concept. One thing is certain: This new old stock example captures this execution in pristine form.
