There’s no denying that Citizen took bold and daring steps in the 1960s, experimenting with various sub-brands, unique dials, and intriguing variations, making collecting them an exciting journey.
One of the most fascinating examples is the Citizen Homer, a series that spanned from 1960 to around 1980. Throughout its production, Citizen introduced numerous variations, including the Guppy, the Special, and the vibrant Pansy, each with its own distinctive character.
This particular piece is the Homer Pansy "Western" dial H015307, featuring a stunning glossy black dial adorned with a captivating Western-inspired illustration. Encased in a CGP (Citizen Gold Plated) case, the design showcases a gun, mountains, and cacti, evoking the spirit of classic Western films. The rich black and gold color scheme, complemented by golden dauphine hands and indexes, adds depth that perfectly fits an era when Westerns dominated popular culture.
This Pansy variant is exceptionally rare, and finding one in excellent condition is a true challenge, as the gold-plated case tends to wear over time. However, this example stands out as remarkable, preserved in pristine condition and complete with its original straps and tags, a gold nugget for sure.
