The unassuming “Homer” was Citizen’s dependable hand-wound movement for decades. First introduced in 1960, it powered a wide range of models all the way into the 1980s.
 
Today’s offering is something very unusual: An unworn Citizen Homer Parawater Date HD5130801, and it’s absolutely stunning. With its glossy black dial, punchy lume, and clean date window, it oozes that rugged field watch charm. The dimensions are just right too: A sweet-spot case size of 37–38mm and a 45mm lug-to-lug that wears like a dream.
 
What really hooks you is the dial, it's pure magic: Citizen topped this one with an unusually tall acrylic crystal that adds incredible depth. Viewed from the side, it almost feels like peering through a magnifying glass. The Pawarater stainless steel case is perfectly proportioned at 37 × 43mm, with sharp chamfered lugs. The chunky lugs also make it wear solidly even on a slim 18mm strap, and the oversized crown gives it that adventurous, sporty vibe.
 
In Japan, these Homers are seriously sought-after. They were produced in far smaller quantities than the more common Jet series, making them a tough catch,  and all the more collectible because of it.
 
Powered by a 19J manual-wind movement and paired with a lume-loaded dark dial and minimal fuss, this Homer is just about everything we love in a vintage Japanese field watch.
