Today we offer this extremely rare Citizen Ace A515801 "Lady" dial.
Whether you're a fervent admirer of art, a collector, or an individual in pursuit of a distinctive cultural allure, Ukiyo-e prints offer a spellbinding odyssey into Japan's artistic heritage. No trip to Japan would be complete without taking in the rich artistic tradition of ukiyo-e, the colorful woodblock prints that have an outsize influence on art and design around the world. A visit to Japan would be inadequate without immersing oneself in the abundant artistic heritage of ukiyo-e, the vibrant woodblock prints that hold a significant impact on global art and design.
During the 60s, Citizen released three limited models with unique dials illustrating Ukiyo-e artwork made by Hokusai as souvenirs for visiting overseas tourists. This Citizen Ace was one of these limited Ukiyo-e models and features a beautiful drawing of a dancing lady.
Similar to its Hi-Line sister, this Citizen Ace features a 36mm CGP 14K Gold Plated case with beveled lugs making it suitable for every wrist size. Gazing at the dial, the depiction of a graceful young woman in the artwork is guaranteed to capture your attention, thanks to its beautifully arranged elements and lively range of colors. The portrayal shows a dancing lady who appears to be in motion, holding a fan, inviting further engagement the longer you observe.
While the artwork itself is mesmerizing, it is also surrounded by beautifully arranged indexes which are elaborately engraved coupled with thin mountain hands which perfectly blend into the artwork. Powered by the low-beat 23J hand-wound Caliber 156, it is running at 18,000 BPH.
We paired this beautiful Lady variant with vintage crocodile straps from Maruman with its correct buckle to keep things classy from the Shōwa era but give it a shinier and more casual look.
