Grand Seiko 61GS 6145-8030

From its introduction in 1968 until 1975, the 61GS served as the leading model of Grand Seiko. Manufactured at Grand Seiko's Suwa factory, it took over the role of the 62GS and boasted the advanced self-winding, high-beat Grand Seiko 6100 series movement. Distinguishing itself from the 6200 series used in the 62GS, this fresh movement allowed manual winding and enhanced adjustability for greater precision.

This rare and immaculate Ref.6145-8030 we have to offer is the kind of watch that you immediately fall in love with at first sight. With its striking 18K gold and intricately hammered case and a magnificent "starlight" dial, it is truly mesmerizing.

Everything about this reference is just perfect, down to the smallest detail. It is beyond words to describe the sheer brilliance emanating from the starlight dial: From certain angles, it glimmers like the sea reflecting a setting sun, while from others, it exudes a gentle, matte yellow radiance. The markers and hands were also gold and the top surface of the markers and hands were coloured black, to give the watch good legibility.

The hand-hammered 18K yellow gold case is also a unique feature to be enjoyed: The meticulous creation of these dents involved skilled craftsmen and craftswomen using a specialized drill, akin to a dental drill, to carefully drill onto the case.

Although this particular model does not fully adhere to the "Grammar of Design principle, it is certainly inspired by it: The case is designed with notably short lugs, making it exceptionally comfortable to wear on my smaller wrist. The case dimensions measure 37.5mm in size, with the lugs-to-lugs distance being a mere 39mm.

Freshly serviced and rumored to be made around 200 examples in total, this is a great opportunity to acquire such an immaculate example which also comes with its original 18K buckle and its original box.
